Heather's drawings are informed by:
'earliest memories, the trauma of being 'alone' and mortal, the strangeness of the 'other' (sibling, friend, parent, stranger), the longing for communion, possession, eternity were best probed, exploited, conquered through image-making, through the stain, the pencil line. The most direct path to the subconscious 'dream-time' was the pencil!
Wounds gave birth to 'familiars' - transformed on bright wooden panels like old toys they danced beyond mortality in Edens and Arcadias, observed by wise old Death's head, crows and skulls, themselves, beyond death.'
'A critic once called my drawings 'obsessive'
