David Tress
Elected to RCA 1992
Born London,1955. Has lived and worked in Pembrokeshire since 1976. Studied at Harrow College of Art and Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham.
Davids’ works are characterised by resonant colours,a bold yet sensitive handling of his media, and a freedom of interpretation which is the legacy of an earlier involvement with abstraction and performance art. In his paintings, the immutable features of landscape are transformed by an array of intangible elements – wind, solitude, thunder, the sound of the sea – and, above all, they have a scale and power which dwarfs the minutiae of daily life.
“My paintings are projections of ideas through the vehicle of landscape”.
