Friends of the RCA
The 'Friends of the RCA' was inaugurated in 1991; the aims as set out in our constitution are "the promotion, support, assistance of the RCA and its cultural and educational activities".
To these ends the Friends raise funds through the membership fee and through a range of events and activities. Over the years, money raised has helped towards the Gallery's education programme, the annual Arts Festival; also towards the provision of IT equipmment, and most recently towards the cost of air conditioning. When needed, Friends act as stewards for certain exhibitions.
Each year, the Friends' programme of events offers talks, demonstrations, visits to galleries and to artists' studios, poetry readings and more recently, musical entertainments. Membership of the Friends gives us all the opportunity to indulge our love for art in all its diversity, while fulfilling our objectives of support for the RCA and its Gallery.
The launch in 2007 of CELF 125, the quarterly RCA magazine, has meant that Friends now receive 4 newsletters each year; the magazine is sent free to all our members.
The new RCA web site is another exciting new development, through which Friends who wish can access gallery information, details of the Friends' events and view a selection of images from the current exhibition on-line.
