Report on the Painting Marathon held on Saturday 14th August 2010 

Six courageous artists braved a busy River Festival to take part in our exciting painting marathon to raise funds for our extensive Education programme for all ages. 

More than 500 visitors attended the demonstration and works were created by Maurice Cockrill RA, Karel Lek MBE, RCA, Jeremy Yates RCA, David Lloyd Griffith RCA, Daisy Wyn Griffith RCA and Eleri Jones RCA. 

The event is supported by the Friends of the RCA and raised £4,000 to help support the vital Education Programme for adults and children.

An Illustrated Talk by Professor Tony Curtis 

Art in Wales during World War II

Tony Curtis is Professor of Poetry at the University of Glamorgan and on the executive of the Contemporary Art Society for Wales,  A past winner of the National Poetry Prize, his ninth collection of poetry, Crossing Over was published in 2007. He is also the editor of a number of critical books on literature and art,rman among them Wales:The Imagined Nation, Welsh Artists Talking, Welsh Painters Talking and of several anthologies including Love from Wales , After the First Death: Wales and War, Coal and RelatedTwilights:Josef Herman.
